I made the Call!

I actually picked up the phone today and called Laser Hair Removal Places here in Florida. I'd been thinking about Laser Hair Removal for about a year, since I heard a model mention on the Howard Stern Show. When she said she had it done 3 years ago and now never has to shave, I was sold. But, of course, the money aspect and actually getting around to it took a little time.

I ended up calling three places. The first two places I called didn't give me the warm fuzzies. If I'm going to do this, I sure want to be coddled a little. Does it hurt to give a LITTLE customer service and hand-holding? GEESH. The third place was a God-send. An older woman who obviously understood that this wasn't an easy phone call to make. Thank Goodness I didn't give up or worse, decide to work with one of the Crabbies at the other two places.

So, my first question was what should I have done? As much as we women hate to admit it, we're mammals. So, I've got 5'7" of skin to consider here.

I chatted with my husband and I told him that the thing that bothers me most are the hairs above the neck. He, of course, said "Where?" and started squinting and looking for them. For the men out there, that's the WRONG thing to do. Of course he recovered with a quick "You're beautiful" which was a start, but then I got the "How much is this going to cost" right after it. (again, wrong thing to say)

So, the area I chose is called the 'chin', although I really don't have any hairs on my chin. They are moreso by the jawline. The big shocker was that, since I had been plucking the hairs, I have to go THREE to SIX weeks without plucking before my first treatment. The lady I finally liked (of the three places I called) was older and she said "Honey, if the hairs bother you during the 3 weeks, just run a dry razor over them and use a lot of makeup!" She was very sweet, although it wasn't my most "I'm too sexy ..." moment.

Well, more soon. But, that's the first step on this journey. I figure, at 30 something, and a mom, I deserve to do something nice for myself.
